a cautionary tale of infosec just desserts
if you are going to be nontechnical, and if you are going to let your ego take the wheel by building a resort-wide wifi rollout, and if you are going to scab as much money as possible by charging silly money and using the cheapest possible gear, and if that cheapest possible gear means using a rinky dink little RB750 as the edge firewall and walled garden - if you are going to do all of that - then at least make sure you patch for CVE-2018-14847 yeah?
@thomasfuchs hey! two things -
first, thanks for everytimezone, I use it very frequently and it's easily the most low-friction way I know to bounce times around.
secondly, a quick bug report; it's still listing London as BST (UTC+0100) - we left BST on the 28th October.
@rummik Thanks for the report. The spammer (and multiple other spam accounts) have been suspended.
Facebook revenge porn “upload your nudes” thing - I understand what they’re trying to do & the intention is good. However the premise of giving Facebook, of all companies, private content is daunting. Needs to be perceptually hashed client-side, and only the hashes, or if content is really needed, machine-usable but human-unfriendly content (eg blurred thumbnails) sent and stored.
-1 points for platform expectations.
+100 points for sheer vindictiveness.
infosec, electronics, politics, and bad ideas.
